No Sand Varnish & My Redemption
Between Coats GGuilty! All I can do is confess. That’s my takeaway from the how-to blog video I watched during lunch today. They seemed to know all my excuses for not posting, and I hate being so like their usual suspects. Half admonished and half cheered on for 15...
Oil on Troubled Waters ~ Part 2
Storm Tactics In part one “Oil On Troubled Waters” I pretty much convinced myself that "Colony II" should be kitted up to deploy storm oil before we venture offshore again. Maybe you’re feeling the same way? Ok, let's do this then. Alas you might have...
Oil On Troubled Waters ~ Storm Tactics
A highlight of being a liveaboard sailor is the dock chatter that comes your way some mornings. This morning, something along the lines of, “What the country needs now,” I said “is a little oil on the water,” got me a blank stare and an inquisitive tilt of head. ...

Day 45 ~ Forced Change Things that force you to change. You wouldn’t do it otherwise, even though you might think "yeah I’m gonna do that," but well you just don’t right now because you don’t have to. So yep, there can be an upside to bad things, and...
Julie’s Vegetable Soup
Hot soup for the high seas! A delicious and easy vegetable soup. Seasoned with garlic, thyme and parsley, and chock full of veggies, plus it’s WFPB. Just add your favorite hearty bread.
Day 33 — Voyage to Nowhere — Storm Tactics
Well, it’s been about ten days since the last post and it seems the notion that people are getting antsy to get things back moving again has taken hold. This is a thing that happens when you’ve hove to in a storm for a while. When it’s bad and you’re in the middle of the fury, you’re glad as hell for the respite you’ve gained with the tactic. It’s really not great, but it’s way better than bashing downwind
